Google Calendar provides an easy to use interface for managing and sharing multiple calendars. But many of us still need the convenience of a desktop calendar application like Apple iCal. Fortunately, there is an easy way to do a two-way sync between iCal and Google Calendar which allow users to take advantage of both solutions. Here is a step-by-step guide for how to sync Google Calendar with Apple iCal.

Things You'll Need:

  • Macintosh Computer
  • Apple iCal
  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Spanning Sync website and download the latest version of the Spanning Sync program.

  2. Step 2

    Open the download, and run the Spanning Sync installer.

  3. Step 3

    Open "System Preferences," and select the "Spanning Sync" preference tab.

  4. Step 4

    Under “Account & Schedule”, click the “Sign In” button and enter the details for your Google Calendar account.

  5. Step 5

    In the “Schedule” section, configure how frequently you want to sync iCal and your Google Calendar.

  6. Step 6

    Click the “Calendars” tab at the top, and select the calendars you want to sync.

Tips & Warnings
  • By keeping your Google Calendar in sync with iCal, you will also be able to sync the calendar on your IPhone as well.
  • Spanning Sync also supports syncing between your Apple Address Book and your contacts in Google Apps.
