Step 1
Check out the Talbert and Leota Abrams Planetarium (usually referred to simply as Abrams Planetarium). This is central Michigan's hub of astronomy and space science education. Visitors here will find a black-light gallery of astronomic artworks, a domed sky theater and an exhibition hall.

Step 2
Visit the Michigan Historical Museum. This museum is a lovely place to learn about Michigan's history, spanning from prehistoric times up to the 1900s. There are both permanent and temporary exhibitions, with topics ranging from Underwater Archaeology to the Civil War.

Step 3
Go to the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum. This museum follows the history of transportation in the Lansing area from the year 1883 up to the modern day. There are many artifacts on display, such as automotive memorabilia and antique vehicles. Be sure to check out the first Oldsmobile, built in 1897.

Step 4
Explore the Carl G. Fenner Nature Center, a great spot for outdoorsy visitors. With over four miles of nature trails (great for hiking and observing), a large butterfly garden, herb garden and visitor's information center, this is a fascinating and educational place to spend a few hours.

Step 5
Spend the afternoon at Potter Park Zoo, a pleasant and peaceful zoo that both children and adults will enjoy. The zoo has over 100 animal species, including snow leopards, rhinoceroses, penguins and lions. If you happen to visit during November or December, you will be able to watch a Light Show.
