How to Find Venice's Best Tourist Spots
Venice is a glorious city in Northern Italy and the capital of the region of Veneto. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations on the planet because it is the only city on Earth that is, in essence, built entirely over water. For that reason, the city is often referred to, unsurprisingly, as the City of Water. There is no shortage of things to do in this beautiful, architecturally extravagant and highly historical city.

Visit the Grand Canal. The Grand Canal is possibly the most splendid and bustling section of Venice, with its many amazing palaces of Venetian merchants. There are many different architectural styles to be seen here as well, from Late Gothic styles to Early Renaissance fashions. This area epitomizes the essence of Venice as a city.

Go to the Church of San Giobbe. This is a prime example of Tuscan Renaissance architecture in Venice. Built by Antonio Gambello and Pietro Lombardi, the building also has many Late Gothic qualities. Take a look at the tomb slab of Doge Cristoforo Moro, the founder of the church.

Go to Rialto Bridge / Ponte di Rialto. This bridge was constructed by the Venetians in 1588 as a stone bridge (150 years after a wooden bridge was built in this same spot and destroyed by the weight of a crowd of people). For a long period of time, the Ponte di Rialto was the only footbridge over the Grand Canal.

4
Visit Santa Maria della Salute. This is a Baroque style church in the shape of a dome, built to memorialize the plague of 1630 that claimed the lives of over 40,000 Venetians. Completed in 1637, this is a beautiful church that was built over the foundations of over 1 million wooden piles.

Spend some time at Museo Fortuny in St. Marks Square / Piazza di San Marco. This museum is devoted to the works of set designer Mariano Fortuny, with an impressive collection of paintings, textiles, furniture, decorations and costumes. This is also the location of the creation of the famous Fortuny dress, made in 1906.
