Things You'll Need:
- Peace lily
- Sharp knife
- Several planting pots with drainage holes
- Potting soil made for houseplants
- Water
- Vitamin B
-
Step 1
Remove your peace lily from its pot.
-
Step 2
Look at the base of the peace lily. Notice all the individual shoots or stalks with their own roots. Each of these can be split into a separate plant; it's up to you to decide how many different plants you would like to create. You can split your peace lily in two, or you can split it in 20. The choice is yours.
-
Step 3
Try to separate the peace lily into the required number of sections by gently teasing the root sections apart with your hands. If this does not work easily, use a sharp knife to cut the lily, starting at the bottom of the roots and making your way up to the top of the roots.
-
Step 4
Place some high-quality houseplant potting soil into your various pots. Use one new pot for each of your newly cut peace lilies.
-
Step 5
Plant the peace lilies in the soil at the same level they were before being split. The soil should just cover where the roots meet the foliage.
-
Step 6
Water your plant regularly, and look for signs of shock or wilting. If any occur, apply some Vitamin B to the soil. Vitamin B can be purchased at any home and garden store.
-
Step 7
Fertilize your peace lily only after new growth has started to form. Visit the resource below for more information on how to care for peace lilies.
