A savory Georgia peach bourbon sauce is a delicious addition to any meal. This sauce goes well with chicken, pork or beef and can easily be used as a marinade for grilling outdoors or served on the side as part of the main course.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Food processor
  • 3½ cups Georgia peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tbsp. confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • Rubber spatula
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Large saucepan
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ¾ cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. garlic, minced
  • Peach puree
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1½ tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 3 tbsp. bourbon
  • Emulsion blender
  1. Step 1

Place the peaches into a food processor and puree until smooth. Remove the lid and add confectioners’ sugar and fresh lemon juice. Replace the lid and blend until well-combined.

  2. Step 2

Pour the peach puree into a medium-sized bowl and stir with a rubber spatula to make sure that the peaches and sugar are thoroughly combined. Refrigerate the mixture until needed.

  3. Step 3

Melt unsalted butter in a large saucepan. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook for 4 minutes or until the onions are soft and translucent.

  4. Step 4

Add the peach puree, ketchup, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, fresh lime juice, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, fresh orange juice, and bourbon to the saucepan and stir to combine the ingredients.

  5. Step 5

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes or until the sauce thickens.

  6. Step 6

Use a hand-held emulsion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. Serve the Georgia peach bourbon sauce on the side with your favorite meat dish or use as a marinade.

Tips & Warnings
  • Adding the lemon juice to the peach puree will prevent the peaches from becoming discolored.
  • Unused bourbon sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Do not reuse the sauce if it was previously used as a marinade.
