How to Play Chess on Yahoo.com

Looking for a quick and easy chess game? Yahoo.com may just have what you require. Along with chess, there are a plethora of other games available for your enjoyment. Simply sign up for a Yahoo! account if you don’t already have one, and you are a few clicks away from all the chess you could need or want. Beware, however, that the administration on this site is usually a bit more lenient as to what goes on, so foul language and cheating may be prevalent.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to yahoo.com. If you already have a Yahoo! account, it will sign you in automatically. If not, create an account using the Steps outlined on the site. When you log in, click the “games” link from the homepage, circled in blue and accompanied by an arrow for the caption.

    • 2

Scroll down the left-hand column of different games, and choose the Knight icon that reads “Chess,” circled in red for the caption.

    • 3

Fill out the information on the sign-in page (circled in red). You can also create a Yahoo! account directly from here (circled in orange).

    • 4

Click the large yellow “Play Now!” button when the Yahoo! chess page appears. The button is circled in red for the caption, just below the small, tilted chessboard.

    • 5

Select a level when you get to the chess game page. The choices are Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced (these choices are circled in red here). Once a level is selected, choose a room (circled in green) based on the amount of players in the room, noted in the right hand column.

    • 6

Choose from available, sought games or create a table of your own. The joinable tables are on the left, in the large red circle, and the scroll bar is on the right, in the thinner, oblong circle. If creating your own table, there is no need to worry about these.

    • 7

Wait for your opponent to hit their "Start" button after you join a table. If this does not happen within a few seconds, go to another table. Also, if your own table has been created, you will need to hit your own "Start" button once a player joins in to match you.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may have to disable your browsers pop-up blocker if the board will not load.
