Step 1
Insert a CD into the appropriate drive. Use a CD-R disc if you won’t need to add additional information to the disc at a later time. Use a CD-RW disc if you need to add information to the disc in the future. After the computer recognizes that a disc has been placed in the drive, a dialog box will appear. Select “Burn a new CD.”
-
Step 2
Select the correct option based on your needs. You will be given four choices: "Make Data Disc," "Make Audio CD," "Make Video CD" and "Copy Disc." If you are making a data CD, click on "Choose Data" > "Make Data CD." If you are making an audio CD, select "Make Audio CD."
-
Step 3
Click the “Add” button. A new window will open. Browse through the file locations and select the files or folders that you want to add. Highlight those files and click on the “Select Files” button.
-
Step 4
Choose “Finish” when you have selected all files. A list of added files and folders will be displayed. Double-check that all files are present, particularly if you are not using a rewritable disc.
-
Step 5
Click “Next” when you are satisfied that all files and folders you need have been added. Check that the correct drive is selected and change the name of the disc if desired. Click “Burn,” and your information will be burned onto the CD.
-
Step 6
Check that the information has been successfully burned. When your CD drive pops out the disc, push it back in again and randomly click on some of the files to make sure that they open and can be read.
