How to Make a Poinsettia Flower Tree
This pretty wall hanging makes a beautiful, festive decoration. Poinsettias are often difficult to keep alive after the holidays are over, but this brightly colored wall tree can simply be stored until next Christmas without any worry or maintenance. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Silk poinsettia flowers or plants
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Plywood triangle
- 6 to 9 cinnamon sticks (at least 6 inches long)

- Red bow
Instructions

1
Drill a hole near the top of the triangle. This will also be the top of your tree, so be sure that you have the triangle positioned as you want it to be when it is hanging on the wall. The hole should be large enough for a cup hook to fit through.

2
Cut the flower heads off the silk poinsettias. Do not cut so closely that the plastic part holding the flower together lets the petals go, but do be sure that you make the back of the flower as flat as you can.

3
Glue the flowers to the board. Make sure that the hole is hidden, but that you do not actually glue a flower in it or you will not be able to hang your poinsettia tree. Glue the flowers close enough together that you cannot see any of the wood behind them. Use plenty of glue so that the poinsettias will hang securely.
-
4
Glue the cinnamon sticks together. Use a thin line of glue that runs the length of the sticks to make them stick together side-by-side. These will form the trunk of your tree.
-
5
Glue the bow to the center of the cinnamon stick trunk. Use plenty of glue to make sure that it does not fall off.
-
6
Glue the trunk of the tree to the plywood base. The poinsettia flowers and leaves will cover the very top of the trunk so that only the cinnamon sticks and the bow are visible.
-
7
Allow the tree to dry for 24 hours. Keep it in a warm, dry place. Once it has dried, you can hang it indoors or outside for a beautiful, festive holiday decoration. If you hang it outside, however, make sure that it is not somewhere where it will get wet, as the cinnamon and the plywood will get soggy.
