Step 1
First check the persons facial expressions. Normally when a person is telling the truth and displaying emotion their whole face will display that emotion. When a liar is trying to display fake emotion it is rare that they will use their whole face, they will mostly just use their mouth to portray emotion.
-
Step 2
If the person is avoiding eye contact or touching\scratching their face a lot, then it is likely they are lying.
-
Step 3
If the person uses a lot of the words in the questions you are asking them, then it is likely they are lying. For example: Question - "Did you break the lamp?" Answer - "No, I did not break the lamp". This is an unnatural response as opposed to a simple "No" or "No, I didn't".
-
Step 4
If the person is showing many of these signs and you now believe them to be lying then change the topic of discussion. Someone who is lying will be relieved to no longer discuss it and ease on to the new topic whereas someone who is not lying will find it odd that you have unnaturally changed the topic.

An article you can trust! ;-)
