Instructions

    • 1

Reduce Your Retirement Contribution. Lets say 10% of your wage is being contributed to a retirement account. If you are in dire need of money, you could consider reducing this amount to 5% and bringing in more income per month.

    • 2
      W-4 Form

Change Your Withholding. The higher number you claim on your W-4, the more you will get back during the year (in other words, the less taxes you pay out during the year). If you are claiming 0, consider claiming 2 or higher to increase your paycheck.

    • 3

Cash in Debts. Do you purchase items for a church or organization that you should be reimbursed for? Be sure that you are getting reimbursed for everything that you purchase.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you decide to reduce the amount you contribute to your retirement, beware. While it will help you bring in more income in the short-term, long-term you will likely not regain the value of the money that you would have contributed.

  • If you claim a higher number on your W-4, you will be paying less taxes during the year, which means you will owe more taxes at the end of the year. Be aware that this could mean having to pay out, come April 15th.

Great tip... Most people don't think to change their withholding allowances. Getting a big refund at the end of the year is like loaning money to the IRS without getting paid interest!

Good tips, especially on the W-4. If you break even with the IRS, then you have won by not letting them use your money.
