Supplement your diabetes with vitamins.

Diabetes Mellitus, including both Type I and Type II diabetes requires a modified diet for sufferers. By using specific vitamins as part of that diet, you may increase your overall health.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stock up on Vitamin C if your doctor hasn't already advised you to do so. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant in your body and reduced the damage to tissues caused by high blood sugar. In addition, Vitamin C increases your body's tolerance of carbohydrates.

  2. Step 2

Pay attention to the "B" Vitamin group. A B-Complex tablet, taken daily will provide Niacin, a substance that regulates blood sugar, Thiamine, necessary to help your body use glucose and Pyridoxine which reduces the incidence of nerve damage. Consult your doctor or a nutritionist for the dosage that is correct for you.

  3. Step 3

Give Vitamin E a chance to perform its powerful antioxidant protection against free radicals that cause blood vessel, heart and vision problems. Start with a low dosage and increase it slowly under the direction of your doctor.

  4. Step 4

Include some beneficial minerals like Chromium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Potassium as a general supplement to your vitamin regime to safeguard vision, control blood sugar, protect tissues and slow the detrimental effects of diabetes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consult your doctor before begining any new diet if you suffer from either type of diabetes.
