Siblings will sometimes fight amongst themselves. Jealousy is quite common when there is more than one child in the home. Having jealousy for each other does not mean that they don't love each other. It is hard for parents to deal with the constant fighting and fussing, but this most likely will be over in a few years.

Instructions

    • 1

When dealing with rivalry and jealousy between siblings, you have to make sure that you are not taking sides. Be fair to each individual child. Show each child equal amount of attention, so as to not cause any ill feelings.

    • 2

Some Siblings like to be in competition with each other. Don't give one child more praises than the other. If a child get good grades at school, and you make a big deal about it, do the same when the other child/children get good grades.

    • 3

If you single out one child each time to always do the household chores, the other child/children will feel like you are showing favoritism to that child. This will cause resentment, which will result in jealousy.

    • 4

Sometimes if there is a baby in the family, the other child/children may feel jealous about the new arrival. It is hard to share the time evenly when you have a new baby, but try to involve the other child/children in activities, such as helping to get the diapers or holding the baby.

    • 5

If one child is constantly teasing or fighting the other, you will have to intervene. Let them know that it is not okay to tease other people. Teach them how to solve issues without fighting. Constantly show love for each child, making them always feel special.

Tips & Warnings

  • Acknowledge achievements of each child, and award them for their hard work.

  • Don't ignore jealousy among siblings, instead, continue to spend one-on-one time with each child.
