How to make money by selling aluminum pull tabs on eBay

There certainly is a lot of advices how to make a lot of money without any significant effort. If that is what you expected maybe this "HowTo" is not for you. because this "HowTo" is about making a couple of bucks by selling your every day junk. Maybe it can be a great project for kids. Anyway ... as the title says, you can sell pull tabs from your beer and soda cans on eBay. The current prices are about 1-2 cents per pull tab. It may sound as peanuts, but if you drink a lot of Coke, Pepsi or beer, you will accumulate several hundreds of pull tabs in no time. Or maybe your kids will ... it would teach them that earning money needs patience and commitment, but at the end it pays off. So here is what you need to do:

• eBay account
• Paypal account
• internet + PC
• aluminum pull tabs from soda and/or beer cans
• suitable envelope

Instructions

1. Dedicate a suitable container where you will store your pull tabs. One pint mason jar can hold approximately 500 pull tabs, which are worth between 5-10 dollars. People who buy them use it usually for their craft projects.

2. Make it a habit (or delegate it to your kids) to always remove the pull tab from every soda or beer can. The best way to do it is just wiggle it gently back and forth. Keep the pull tabs clean, or if it gets accidentally soaked by coke or beer, just wash it immediately. The person who would buy dirty, sticky and smelly pull tabs would not be really happy.

3. If you are accumulating different kinds of pull tabs, keep these different sorts apart. They can go for different price. Colorful ones such as those form Monster Energy drink can be sold for 5-8 cents a piece.

4. It is not worth to sell amounts smaller then ~500 pieces. Otherwise too big of a sell price goes to shipping costs. Mailing 500 pull tabs within continental US is about 2$.

5. Once you have enough pull tabs, just sell them on eBay. You will need a Paypal account and an eBay account. The best category on eBay is "Collectibles > Breweriana, Beer > Cans: US > Pull Tabs". It is OK to put the listing price as 0.99$ .Do not worry, buyers will show up for sure and they will increase the price. Do not try to hike your shipping costs, it will deter the potential buyers and the total price will at the end be smaller than if you leave the S&H costs low. People will compensate that more than enough by higher bids if they see that you have honest S&H costs. Good luck !!

Tips & Warnings

• Aluminum pull tabs attract some sure traffic on eBay. If you are selling other stuff on eBay it is a good way to indirectly attract potential buyers to your other listings as well.

• Together with your pull tabs you can also sell beer bottle caps on eBay. Both of these "commodities" complement each other, bring some sure traffic and always a bit of cash too.

• Do not expect to get rich by selling pull tabs. You can do your math and you will see the limits. But if you combine it with other things you can sell on eBay which otherwise would end up in your trash can ... well, it can make for already pretty cool beer money.
