Making hummus is easy and fun. It is a delicious, healthy snack. Hummus can be used as a spread on a sandwich or pita or as a dip for chips and veggies.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • garbanzo beans
  • yogurt
  • lemon juice
  • garlic
  • olive oil
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • and cumin
  • other additions might be sun-dried tomatoes, jalpenos,sesame seeds,onion,cilantro,basil etc.
  1. Step 1

    1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
    1/2 cup plain yogurt
    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 teaspoons olive oil
    1 tablespoon water
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  2. Step 2

    Combine the garbanzo beans, yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, water, salt, pepper, and cumin in a blender or food processor, blend until smooth.

  3. Step 3

    Serve chilled or warmed in the microwave.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any spices or additions are possible with hummus, let your imagination run wild!
  • The Garbanzo beans which are the base of hummus, are loaded with healthy B vitamins.
