Fresh blueberries and the warm aromas of nutmeg and cinnamon make this coffee cake a special treat! Easy to make.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2+1.2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2+1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 8 or 9 inch square pan
  1. Step 1

    Combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Cream 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Add egg; mix well. Add flour mixture alternating with buttermilk.

  3. Step 3

    Pour into well greased 8 inch square pan and gently and evenly press blueberries into top of batter.

  4. Step 4

    Combine 1/2 cup flour, cinnamon, 1/4 butter and 1/2 cup sugar until crumbly. Sprinkle over blueberries.

  5. Step 5

    Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees until done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Can substitute buttermilk with 1 Tbs of white vinegar added to 1 cup of milk.
  • Batter is thick so will need to be very careful pressing blueberries into the batter so they do not bleed.
