Things You'll Need:
- Good Posture
- Practice
- Nice fitting heels
-
Step 1
Before you get into a pair of heels, try walking in front of a mirror and get a view of how you walk normally. This will help you see how your body is moving and what you may want to improve. Confidence and good posture are the main elements to a nice feminine walk.
-
Step 2
Good posture is key! Try to align your shoulders directly above your hips. When you're not in front of a mirror, you'll want to remind yourself to slightly tilt your shoulders back when you walk.
-
Step 3
Find a good pair of shoes and wear your size! If the shoe doesn't fit, don't wear it! I would recommend a medium heel of about 1.5 to 2 inches to start. Lower may be awkward and higher may be scary! Also, open toe sandal or backless mules may not be a good starter either. Start off with what you think will be best for you so that when you walk, you'll be confident. Click on the shoe to the left to get an idea of what a nice starter would be for most people. A thicker heel or wedge is not a bad idea to start with either.
-
Step 4
Once the dream shoe has been purchased, you can start walking sexy! Start off walking normally to get your balance and get a feel for the shoe. Next, focus on your posture with shoulders slightly back and your chin parallel to the ground (but not "up." Walking with your nose in the air may give off the wrong vibe) Walk slowly and try not to take big steps. Small steps and a slow pace looks best.
-
Step 5
Now add a pivot to your walk. You'll want to rotate your hips slightly over to one side and then slightly back as you walk. (Try not to move your torso side to side as you move your hips. Keep your shoulders stationary as your walk.)Your hips will be moving but your top-half should not move much at all. To begin walking, take a step with your right foot and push your right hip out at the same. As you pull your left foot over to step, pivot your left hip out at the same time. See how this feels and looks as you do it then adjust accordingly until you find a nice walk that feels comfortable to you. Try not to over-do it though. It should look natural to you.
-
Step 6
Now that you have the walk down, practice, practice, practice! Practice at home on the carpet first. You can break in your shoes and your new walk while running the sweeper or doing some daily chores in your heels. Then try short trips to pick up the mail or to the grocery store so that you can get used to the heels but not feel too tired. After some practice, you'll be a pro in no time. Remember to perfect the walk FIRST before moving to new heights :) Once you have the walk together, you can afford to be more adventurous with your styles!

on 10/27/2008 Oh I completely agree with you Lindaperry, but the point of this article is not to say "in order to be sexy, you must wear heels." It is simply to give pointers on how to look sexy IN HEELS. I understand that the concept is largely subjective. Thanks for reading.
