Live through a Brazilian wax
Live through a Brazilian wax

OUCH!!!! What painful cruel and unusual punishment. Not unlike me, I'm sure you've heard nothing but horror stories from Brazilian wax fanatics. Don't fall for the hype, there are ways to walk out of an appointment without being scared for life.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A deep breath and a sense of humor:)
  1. Step 1

So you've made the decision to get waxed. First you must know that by making the choice to get a Brazilian, your choosing to get your entire "region" waxed. If your not ready to go completely bare, than I'd suggest a bikini wax. Still interested, read on...

  2. Step 2

    *Find a creditable place...
It shouldn't come as a surprise, that finding a creditable place is very important. After all who would go to a "hole in the wall" salon to have hot wax poured on their most private parts. Ask around, or go online, to see where the majority of people in your neighborhood go.

  3. Step 3

Once you've found a salon be sure to ask the following questions...
*How long their waxing technician has been in the field.
You'll want someone with more than a month of experience.
    *Where they received their training.
Yes they should have a certificate hanging or filed somewhere in the salon.
    *The salon's waxing options.
Along with asking you to fill out a small questionnaire about your allergies and waxing history. Most salons will offer you yearly packages that will save you money.(I suggest considering a package after you've decided you like your wax, not before.)Most salons will also offer you a numbing cream to be applied before your wax. Unless you have a high tolerance for pain, I suggest taking them up on this offer. It will make your experience more enjoyable and your skin less irritated.

  4. Step 4

Now take a deep breath and think nice thoughts. They'll ask you to remove any clothes your wearing on your bottom half. I know the thought of being spread eagle for someone you've never met is well, embarrassing. Just treat it like a Pap test. Just like an OBGYN, wax technicians are used to seeing private parts. And yours is no different than the one they saw an hour ago. Consider bringing in something that may comfort you through the experience. For example I chew on beef jerky. When I feel and pain I just bite down, sounds weird but it helps. A friend of mine listens to her Ipod. She knows that after the 4th song her appointment is over. Whatever makes the process faster.

  5. Step 5

The best part of a Brazilian wax is when its over its over, and you don't have to go back for 2 to 3 months. That's 2 to 3 months of bare, silky, confidence. Beauty is pain sweet hearts, but it dosen't have to be excruciating. Good luck and enjoy...

Tips & Warnings
  • Have to be somewhere after your appointment? Bring wet wipes, this way you can clean up after.
  • Treat waxing like a tattoo. Although it won't be there for life, it is a decision you should think through before doing.
