How to perform the "I can feel/smell/taste your card" trick

This is a card trick in which an audience member is asked to choose a card at random from the deck. After doing so he or she is then asked to memorize the cards value and to place the card on top of the deck and cut the deck as many times as he or she please. The performer will then go through the deck feeling, smelling, even tasting each card in order to find the one that the audience member chose.

Things You'll Need:

• A standard deck of cards

1. This is an extremely easy card trick that anyone can do. The only thing you'll have to do is memorize what card is on the bottom of the deck. You can even shuffle the deck in front of the spectator. Either use a false shuffle keeping the same card on the bottom, or just sneak a peek at the card when you're though shuffling.

2. Present the cards to an audience member and tell them to choose any card from the deck and memorize its value. After they have chosen the card set the remainder of the deck down in front of them.

3. Ask the audience member to place their card on top of the deck and then cut the deck as many times as they please. Doing so they will place the bottom card on top of their chosen card. Chances are they will not cut the deck in that exact spot, but it could happen. If it does you come out looking like a moron.

4. When they are finished cutting the deck pick it up and feel the top card. Tell them that it is not their card and throw it down on the table. Continue through the deck feeling, smelling, tasting, or doing whatever you please in order to "read" the card. Eventually you will throw out the card that you memorized at the beginning as the being bottom card. You now know that the next card is the one they chose. The second you touch it pull your fingers away and ask them to feel the card. After they do so ask them if it feels like their card. Despite their answer throw down the card and proclaiming that it is one and the same as the card they chose.

Tips & Warnings

• Get creative. Use your acting skills. Pretend to use x-ray vision to see through cards. Ask the audience member to pull one of the cards and hold up. Stare at it hard and then tell them to throw it down it's not their card.
• Play with your audience member. Pretend to have found their card. Before revealing it ask them to feel it. Smell it. Taste it even, if they will. If they say that it is their card laugh and tell them their wrong. If they say it's not give them a look and say that maybe they should be doing the trick.
