How to Make a Wedding Cake Card Holder

Creating your own wedding cake card holder is probably a whole lot easier than you thought! And probably cheaper too! I'm a big fan of DIY wedding projects and I'm going to share with you the steps I took to create my wedding cake card holder.

Things You'll Need

• Paper Mache Boxes (3)
• Fabric (Any style)
• Glue Gun
• Xacto Knife/Knife
• Embellishments

1. **Gather the Supplies you Need for Your Wedding Cake Card Holder**

   You'll need to make sure that you have all the supplies you need to make your wedding cake card holder.

2. **Make the Card Holder Slots**

   Starting with the top box, you'll need to cut a rectangular slot using a knife or cutting tool of some kind, making it large enough for different types of cards to fall through. You'll continue making a larger slot on the bottom of the same box so that the cards are able to fall through.

3. Continue on with the second box of the wedding cake card holder. Cut a rectangular slot into the top of the box, and make a larger one on the bottom of the box, but not so big that the box above doesn't cover it.

4. Finally, cut a big enough space out of the top of the bottom box so that the cards can fall through all the way to the bottom. Make sure you have a lid for the bottom box so you can take your cards out of the wedding card holder without ruining it!

5. **Fasten the Fabric to the Paper Mache Boxes for the Wedding Card Holder**

   Using a hot glue gun, glue the fabric you have chosen to the paper mache boxes. The easiest way is to wrap the outside of the box and then glue down the fabric to the insides of each box - separately.

6. **Attach the Boxes Together to Form Your Wedding Card Holder**

   After the glue has dried from gluing the fabric to the boxes, glue each box together to form a 3-tier 'wedding cake'.

7. **Decorate Your Wedding Cake Card Holder**

   Now it's time to decorate your wedding cake card holder with any embellishments that you choose! You can add ribbon, rhinestones, mesh shapes or designs, etc. Make it your own!

Tips & Warnings

• You can choose to spray paint the paper mache boxes instead of using fabric.

• These are available for purchase on the internet, but be prepared to spend an arm and a leg on them. Save yourself some cash and make them yourself. They're easy! :)

• Use caution when utilizing the glue gun as they get very hot!
