Things You'll Need:
- Hair Dryer
- WD-40
- Hot water
-
Step 1
So you have a car with a bumper sticker you don't want. Maybe your political candidate lost the race or went through a scandal. Perhaps you bought a nice used car, but don't feel the need to promote "Meat Heads of Death Metal" at this stage of your life. How do you remove the sticker without damaging your car.
-
Step 2
The first method I would try is spraying the sticker with WD-40 or similar lubricant. Often this is enough to loosen it so you can peel it off.
-
Step 3
If that does not work try the hot setting on a hair dryer. Heat the sticker evenly as much as possible and try to peal. A similar and also effective method is boil a tea kettle of water. Slowly pour the water over the sticker, back and forth at the top letting it run down.
-
Step 4
Once you have removed the sticker you may need to use an adhesive remover to remove the residue. If you have a chrome bumper bug and tar remover is a good product. It is available in any good automotive store. After the sticker is removed if you have a colored plastic bumper you may have an area not sun faded that is darker where the sticker protected it for years. Buff or polish this carefully. A good car wax or tire black (on a black bumper)may even out the look.
