Qualify for California Lemon Law
Qualify for California Lemon Law

Find out when a vehicle qualifies under the CA Lemon Law.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vehicle still under warranty
  1. Step 1

Wondering if your vehicle falls under the California Lemon Law? Usually your vehicle will have to have a defect that your dealership has not been able to fix. The dealership has to be given multiple chances to repair the car while it's still under warranty.

  2. Step 2

There is not set amount of times your car has to be taken to the dealer to qualify for the CA Lemon Law, but usually 4 times is enough. If the problem with your car is more serious, less visits are required. Also if your car spends more than 30 days in the shop for warranty repairs you may qualify.

  3. Step 3

What does the California Lemon Law entitle you to? You will be able to get a full refund on your down payment, monthly payments, and your vehicle loan paid in full! You will also get money for any cash spent on rentals, repairs, towing expenses, and other car expenses. In certain cases you can request a car of similar value instead of money.

Tips & Warnings
  • The CA Lemon Law also contains an attorney fee clause so you won't have to pay court fees should you win your case! Some practices will not charge you, but collect there hourly wages from the dealership should they feel you have a strong case.
