on 9/3/2009 Great idea, think you can make at least 8 great ornaments this way! Perfect for teachers and daycare mommies! 5*

on 12/21/2008 The prices I quoted was for Crayolas. You can get other brands cheaper at Blick and they're just as good for little kids -- but not for school where they're required to have the same brand as everyone else. :P

on 12/21/2008 This is a great bright idea! It would go so well with my Merry Frugal Christmas article -- I clicked on it when I looked at mine and listed it as a related article because it looked interesting, but now I'm going to do these for next year's tree. I know two grandkids who will absolutely love that!
By the way, a super cheap year round source of crayons is to go to Dick Blick and get a classpack of them. A box of eight is 76 cents, or 9.5 cents each, but the $51.49 classpack with 832 crayons in 8, 16 or 64 colors comes out to six cents each -- and is a lifetime supply if you have small children, also enough to do many other crayons projects like melting broken ones into blocks.
