Get it Better On a Dime

Need Champagne Travel on your Beer Budget? Whether you are going on a Honeymoon, Family Vacation, Romantic Weekend or just want to find a Great Getaway, you can do it and save money if you include these tips!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Email address
  • Travel time
  1. Step 1
Last minute deals can be found easily
Last minute deals can be found easily

First, know the deals. Sign up for an insider newsletter that can alert you to the best travel tips around. It's called Deals and Steals, located at ChicTravelDeals.com and just open and confirm your sign up when the first email arrives (check your spam folder too - lots of people lose this email and don't get the newsletter) You will get weekly travel deals and you can click on the destination and change the departure city to your own to get the customized deal for yourself. Its a great resource!

  2. Step 2
Some resorts are at their best off season!
Some resorts are at their best off season!

Second, know when to travel. If you can choose your travel time and have some flexibility, know when the off seasons are and if that can suit your needs. For instance, a Disney vacation in the middle of summer will cost you peak prices and the parks will be crowded. But if you choose to go in the fall, or after Christmas and before Spring Break, you will get excellent cooler weather, discounted hotel rooms and short lines to all the attractions. See the Resources area below for a link to my article on how to get discounted Disney Tickets!

  3. Step 3
All inclusive and on the move!
All inclusive and on the move!

Want to get it all for less? Look at a Cruise. Cruises are by far some of the very best all inclusive deals. You can eat as much as you want, travel to many fantastic destinations within a trip and only unpack your suitcase once! Also, you can sample different entertainment, shows and relax by the pool while you are on board the ship. When at port, try exploring your destination on your own instead of paying extra for shore excursions. You can save money and find much of the same fun for a lot less.

  4. Step 4
Cruise with a group and save!
Cruise with a group and save!

Need a better rate for a Christmas or Valentines Day cruise? Try gathering a group that would be interested and contact a local travel agent - (or email this author)- to get you a better deal and group rate. You could be entitled to a special party or gifts onboard as a group member on top of the extra savings!

  5. Step 5
    Find ideal destinations
    Find ideal destinations

Go on tour! Want to see the best of Ireland, England, France, Germany or Russia? There are plenty of group discounts for tours that allow you to save on airfare, get discounted 5 star hotels and transports to several destinations. All these discounts while giving you the opportunity of sampling the local culture' s food, gifts and history. And it takes the guesswork out of where to go and what to visit, as the tour guides give you the little known facts and places that you may not have been able to find on your own.

  6. Step 6
    Perfect Honeymoon Less Money!
    Perfect Honeymoon Less Money!

Going on a Honeymoon? Then why not register for the Honeymoon of your dreams? Read my article on Honeymoon Registry and get the upgrades and extras courtesy of your friends and family. This a the perfect gift for bridal showers, engagement parties and wedding gifts, as memories last forever! And you can even have a fantasy wedding at your honeymoon destination as some resorts will give you special discounts for wedding parties and ceremonies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bookmark ChicTravelDeals.com. It combines travel search engines to give you the best prices in one place instead of hopping all over the web.
  • Sign up for the newsletter. "Deals and Steals" will alert you to everything from weekend getaways to European vacations that have dropped their prices.
  • Cruising? Check different ports of departure. You may find some better deals just an hour away from your preferred port!

on 11/12/2008 Travel is something I love and will do as much as I can. Four kids put a crimp in our style but we still get some fun family vacations by car.
