How to Watch the Olympics in Different Ways

Being able to watch and root for your country's team and witness the events as each country and Olympian makes history can be an unforgettable event in one's life. There are certain ways you can be part of and enjoy this event, whether in the comfort of your own home or at the venue itself or anywhere you can view the Olympic events.

  • Television
  • Cable TV
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Airfare
  • Passport
  • Visa (if required)
  • Traveler's checks/credit cards
  1. Step 1

    Watch the Olympic events in the comfort of your own home by watching it television. You can check or follow the schedules provided for by the network that is broadcasting the events.

  2. Step 2

    Record the Olympic events and then watch it later. There may be times that you are at work and unable to watch the Olympics as it is aired live, record it using your DVR or VHS recorder then watch it as time permits.

  3. Step 3

    Watch live streaming videos via the Internet. You would need a computer and Internet connection to be able to watch video feeds.

  4. Step 4

    Watch at sports-bars. You may want to have a crowd of friends cheer along with you, so you can go to a sports bar and watch the live or pre-recorded telecast of the Olympic games there. Most sports-bar owners would prefer showing the games to attract more customers.

  5. Step 5

    Watch it live at the Olympic venue. If the venue is overseas or different country, check on the requirements to fly to that country. You may need health vaccinations, a visa and other requirements to get there. Book your flight and hotel accommodations way ahead of time. As you know this is an international event, one that has a lot of visitors from across the globe would go to. Doing it ahead of time, many months in advanced preferably, will ensure that you get the flights and hotel accommodations at reasonable prices. Make sure to bring money with you, less cash and more of traveler's checks or credit cards to protect from theft.

  6. Step 6

    When you are there, plan the Olympic events that you would like to witness each day that you are there. Good time management is the key so you can enjoy each event and be able to watch as much as possible while there. Also, bring binoculars in case you are sitting from afar so you can see the event. To sit closer you should come early.

  7. Step 7

    Relax, enjoy and root for your team

Tips & Warnings
  • Try not to be too trusting when visiting a foreign land. As in any place, there are criminals everywhere that may take advantage of an innocent tourist. Learn the language before you travel so that you can express yourself without too much assistance from strangers.
  • Follow the rules and regulations of the country you are visiting. Abide the local laws and ordinances so that you do not get into trouble.
