People love to accessorize. There are some accessories, however, that should be avoided in order to look professional and credible. Here are a few ...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Velour Scrunchie

    Velour Scrunchie

Some people save their VELOUR SCRUNCHIES for special occasions and wear their regular cotton scrunchies for every day. Scrunches were fashionable when? Avoid hair accessories in general, and in particular scrunchies. If you feel you need them, maybe it's time to consider a haircut. If you can't bear to part with them, there are a million other uses for them, just use your imaginagion.

  2. Step 2
    Tortured Ear

    Tortured Ear

MULTIPLE EARRINGS make you look like a teenage rebel with no restraint or respect for your body. Interestingly, people who have ears like these generally choose nondescript, boring pieces of metal for earrings. What's the purpose?

  3. Step 3
    Pen Bun

Do not accessorize your BUN or other updo with WRITING UTENSILS.

  4. Step 4
    Nail Art

    Nail Art

NAIL ART makes people stare at your nails and wonder how much time it takes to maintain them. Better to keep your nails conservatively groomed.

  5. Step 5
    Scarf Worn Indoors

    Scarf Worn Indoors

You may often see someone wearing a WINTER SCARF throughout the workday, over their regular work clothes. It may be a big, bulky winter knit. This is a security blanket that needs to go.

  6. Step 6
    Tramp Stamp

    Tramp Stamp

TRAMP STAMPS are sometimes seen in the office. There's one secretary at my workplace that shows hers every time she files something in a bottom drawer. If you have one, make sure your clothing is adequate to cover it no matter how low you bend.

  7. Step 7
    Thong Underwear

    Thong Underwear

    Ditto for THONG UNDERWEAR.

  8. Step 8
    Flimsy Sandals

    Flimsy Sandals

FLIMSY SANDALS that reveal your entire foot are inappropriate. Look down, and if your footwear resembles these, try to do better tomorrow.

  9. Step 9
    Stinky Perfume

    Stinky Perfume

Offices are often crowded, unventilated places. Everyone smells everything. Remember that when you put on COLOGNE or any scented body product in the morning. Once I used on holiday marshmallow-scented lotion from Bath and Body Works. When I got to work, my coworkers rudely complained they smelled cigar, and they tried to figure out who was emitting the odor by method of elimination.

  10. Step 10
    Dog Lover Bag

Tote bags look sloppy in a professional office environment. Invest in a stylish pocketbook that will carry everything you need. If you have to slug around a large quantity of stuff, consider getting a leather portfolio bag.

on 10/23/2008 i have to admit, i do #5 all the time when i'm cold at work, but strong perfume is a definite no-no. my one co-worker sprays herself with perfume before lunch and before she goes home. it's absolutely overwhelming. great observations!

on 10/21/2008 Very funny and true...although I'm guilty of one of the tips. :) And yes, I do wear boring earrings.
