How to Make Hearty Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Great turkey soup is made from bones and leftovers. It’s an easy way to consume all of the turkey, stuffing and gravy you so painstakingly and lovingly prepared for the Thanksgiving meal. This easy recipe offers a nourishing and hearty soup that is rich and tasty.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 chopped onions
  • 2 diced carrots
  • 2 ribs of celery
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Leftover Thanksgiving turkey bones
  • Water, enough to cover
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Parsley several sprigs as desired
  • Thyme, to taste
  • Turkey gravy leftovers
  • Stuffing leftovers
  • Large covered saucepan
  • Slow Cooker
  1. Step 1

    Large Saucepan

    In a large saucepan, sauté the onions, carrots, celery and garlic in butter until they begin to brown. Use a low to medium heat setting to keep the vegetables from burning.

  2. Step 2
    Turkey Bones
     
    Turkey Bones

    Add turkey bones and fill with water until the bones and vegetables are covered. Place the lid on the saucepan and bring ingredients to a boil. Stir frequently during this process.

  3. Step 3
    Slow Cooker
     
    Slow Cooker

    Pour into a slow cooker, cover and cook on low for two hours. Stir ingredients once after one hour of cooking time. Continue to cook for one more hour.

  4. Step 4
    Leftover Turkey Stuffing
     
    Leftover Turkey Stuffing

    Remove lid and season with salt, pepper, parsley and thyme. Add leftover stuffing and gravy.

  5. Step 5

    Continue to cook on low until all ingredients are well-blended. Add additional water as desired.
