Things You'll Need:
- the warranty
- the directions that accompanied the copier
-
Step 1
First, if the copier is still under warranty, do not attempt to trouble shoot it or they may not cover it under the warranty if you work on it without their technician doing it for you.
-
Step 2
Second, do not laugh because if you do, you may one day feel VERY foolish. Turn the copier off, then re-start it. Too many times this is an automatic reset that people fail to try. It seems too easy and it is, so try it before you call a technician who will charge you just to come by your office to turn the copier on and then off.
-
Step 3
Read the directions that accompanied the copier. Too many times we start using office supplies before we read the directions - if ever. Go to the index and look up the specific problem you are experiencing and try it. Look specifically for paper jams and a reset button inside the copier.
-
Step 4
If all else fails, call the company's technician and watch what they do. you may have to perform the same task for the same problem again in the future and it will save you some time and money.
