    check breathing and heart beat

the first thing that should be done is to check if the dog is breathing and heart beat. if he isn't breathing or has a heartbeat then this must be taking care of first.

  2. Step 2

attempt to stop bleeding by putting pressure with gauze on the wound. if blood goes though gauze put more gauze over this do not take of the first on. even before doing this is you have rubber gloves you should put them on. it may be nessacary to cut dogs hair to help stop the blood and help the dog from getting an infection. if bleeding stops with this apply hydrogen peroxide on it.

  3. Step 3

if this doesn't stop bleeding then look for the artery above the wound and place pressure there with palm.

  4. Step 4

if this doesn't stop the bleeding there is no other choice then to tourniquet it. this should be used as a last resort because it may lose limb.

  5. Step 5

once bleeding is taking care bandage it in place and go to a vet

Tips & Warnings
  • first attempt may take anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes
  • not all parts of the dog body should be taking care of the same way there is a difference in steps that should be taking for different body parts. this is just the generally stuff that a person should know how to do.
