Things You'll Need:
- 2 pounds potatoes (6 medium potatoes)
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- salt & pepper to taste
- Hand mixer
-
Step 1
Start out the process by getting the potatoes ready to boil. Wash each potato off and remove all dirt. At this point, using a knife, thinly pare and remove all buds. Rinse all potatoes again. Cut into large pieces.
-
Step 2
Heat 2 inches of salted water to a boil. One tbsp. salt per 1 cup of water. At boiling point, add potatoes. Carefully. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. At this point, you can add some butter in with the water. The butter will soak into the potatoes as they are cooking. Cook until tender, 20-25 minutes. Drain well
-
Step 3
Pour potatoes in a study bowl, add salt & pepper to taste, a little butter and a little milk. With hand mixer on low, begin to mash potatoes. Adding a little milk to make potatoes fluffy.
-
Step 4
Some people like their mashed potatoes lumpy or maybe smooth. While using the hand mixer, you can decided which one you like and adjust the amount of time you mix.
