Take Advantage of Wine Clubs

Taking advantage of wine clubs is the simplest way to expand your knowledge of various wines and the best way to sample several wines a month on the cheap.

From Quick Guide: Wine Clubs
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • internet
  • cork screw
  • wine glasses
  1. Step 1

The first step in taking advantage of wine clubs is to sign up for one that will ship to your state. The best way to do this is to check online clubs that ship wine automatically for a monthly fee. These clubs charge from $20 - $100 per month for up to 2 shipments per month. Wine clubs are only allowed to ship to certain states due to prohibition laws. The No.1 club is Wine.com. But there are some clubs that ship to more states than wine.com. Cellarswineclub.com has only 5 states that it does not ship to as opposed to Wine.com which does not ship to some 24 states and/or limits shipments depending upon the alcohol content of the wine.

  2. Step 2

One you find the right online club for your state, determine which membership level is right for you. a $20 level will get you an introductory wine. Mid-level memberships will introduce you to premium level wines. The top-notch membership will have ultra-premium wine delivered to your door at least twice per month.

  3. Step 3

Once you've determined the wine level you want, you must choose your wine type. The types are categorized as Reds, Whites, Reds & White mixed (one bottle of red and one bottle of white each month), Red Only, and Sparkling or Champagne.

  4. Step 4

The last step is to determine the duration of your wine club membership. If the wine club membership is for you, you may decide to go with an "ongoing" membership for which you are charged a monthly fee that has no set end date unless you cancel your membership. If you are buying the membership as a gift, you may choose a 12-month membership to 3 year membership that has a definite end date.

  5. Step 5

Most wine clubs include additional information on food pairings for your wine. To get the most of your membership, make certain to pair the right foods with your wine and read all of the information included with your wine on its origins, regions and growers.

  6. Step 6

The absolute best way to take advantage of a wine club is to sign up online and have the wine automatically come to you a few times a month and enjoy!
