Things You'll Need:
- Computer, for research on your skin type
- An acne treatment kit
-
Step 1
Research your skin type. It may be assumed that those who have acne have all similar skin types, but it's not true. Visit your local dermatologist and ask for treatments that best suit your skin type.
-
Step 2
Invest in a product that works. Many of us are victims of buying drugstore products for our face that aren't suited to our skins specific needs. However, over the counter products aren't always bad. Using a product like Proactiv, which has become highly popular over the last several years has many users who can't stop using it because it relieves their acne (I'm one of those users).
But at the same time, I know many who don't use it because it either doesn't work, or it irritates their skin. So again, be cautious in your decision and go to a dermatologist to confirm what works best for you. -
Step 3
Have a healthy routine. Stress, and lack of activity can contribute to acne. Always try to eat healthy, drink enough water, and get your daily fruit and vegetable intake. This will oxygenate your skin and circulation system. And remember to exercise at least 20 minutes a day.
-
Step 4
Be consistent. If you have invested in an acne treatment system, don't use it only once a week if its suggested that you use it daily. The system will be more effective if you follow its directions, but allow for your personal skin to tell you if you need a break from the product or not.
