How to Use Scrap Fabric to Make a Patchwork Quilt

For those who make quilts on a regular basis leftover fabric squares can pile up rather quickly. When those squares of fabric don't match any projects that are being worked on, they get tossed aside. Making patchwork quilts is a great way to use up all the square scraps that are hanging around.

Things You'll Need:

• Squares of Fabric
• Thread
• Sewing machine

1. Decide how big you want your quilt to be.

2. Gather all your fabric squares and put them in a bag. You want to randomly choose one out of the bag as you sew them.

3. Make the desired number of rows with the desired number of squares.

4. Iron each row pressing the seams in the same direction.

5. Pin two rows with right sides together. Match all the seams.

6. Sew, making sure to remove all the pins as you go.

7. Repeat Steps 5-6 until all the rows have been joined together.

• The size of your quilt depends on the number of scrap squares you have and the size of those squares.
