How to Stitch a Left Hand Double Crochet

Making a double crochet for both hands is the same except for the difference in the direction. When you crochet with your left hand, you are crochet to the right. Abbreviation: DC=Double Crochet

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Crochet Hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle

1. 

   Complete a chain of 15 for your practice swatch.

2. 

   Wrap the yarn over your hook.

3. 

   Insert your hook in the third chain from the hook.

4. 

   Wrap the yarn over your hook and pull it through your chain.

5. 

   You will have 3 loops on your hook.

6. 

   Wrap the yarn over your hook. Pull the yarn through two loops only. You will have two loops remaining on your hook.

7. 

   Wrap the yarn over your hook. Pull the yarn through the two remaining loops to complete your double crochet.

8. 

   This completes the first row. Continue for steps 2-6 for each double crochet.

9. 

   To complete a second row of double crochet, you will need to chain 3 and turn once you get to the end.

10. This time you will be doing your double crochet in the top of each stitch.

11. Keep in mind that your chain 3 will count as a double crochet.

12. 

    You wrap the yarn over your hook, then insert the hook through both of the loops.

13. 

    You may have instructions telling to insert the hook through FLO=Front Loop Only or BLO=Back Loop only. This just means that the instructions are telling you to crochet through the loop closest to you, FLO=Front Loop Only or the loop to the back of your work, BLO=Back

14. Wrap the yarn over your hook and pull through the double crochet on the previous row.

15. 

    Continue with your double crochet across until you have completed your row.

• Counting is very important to keep your project even.
• Your project may get larger or smaller with each row, if you are not counting.
