Step 1
Take some time to research and learn about Nepal, its people and culture. Study about the Himalayan mountains. Research by selecting a variety of books, DVD's biographies of individuals who have experience with trekking so that you will be prepared to unmask the mysteries of the Himalayas.

Find out which ability you are able to undertake when you start to trek. They have many different levels of trekking. The levels range from Easy Level, Moderate Level, and Strenuous Level. Each level is determine whether or not one is in shape to begin an adventure like trekking. Also determine whether you are going alone or with family or friends. This is very important because this is an adventure that some people may either want to be a part of or not. At least you will know ahead of time to be able to make your trekking planning process run smoother. Prepare to work out on a treadmill, or practice walking longer periods. Learn how to increase your endurance and breathing techniques. Do more cardio to increase your endurance. This will definitely prepare you for the adventure up ahead.

Research on any kind of permits or forms of licensure you may need when you are trekking. Some conservation areas require that trekker have a permit in order to explore the mountains. Make sure you talk to a trekking professional to ensure that you have the proper forms and requirements to go on your adventure.
