Try to go shopping at a discount store such as Walmart, Aldi, etc. Whatever store you decide to shop at, buy the store's generic brand of items required for your party. You don't need name brand items. The guests will never know the difference! Plus, by doing this, you'll sometimes cut your costs in half alone!

Try to make your party food consist of finger food mainly. Instead of cooking a great big course, keep it simple. Meals for guests can skyrocket the cost of planning and will even take you away from the party, as you will be checking on your meal often. Lay out finger foods and save time, energy, and money!

Use a lot of cheaper dishes that will be inexpensive and filling. Examples include:
Jello molds: They are large in quantity and only a few cents a box!
or...
Cocktail weiners: They are about $2 a package and can feed plenty!
The list is endless and you'll be sure to come up with a list of ideas!

Bake your own food rather than buying it. Instead of buying cookies or cupcakes from local bakeries or stores, make your own. You can easily save a couple dollars just by buying the cake mix or cookie dough and throwing it in the oven. Not only will you save, but you'll also make more than what you would normally buy!

Don't be afraid to ask your party guests to bring a dish to share. Often times when coming to a party, guests like to be able to help out in any way that they can. Let them! You'll save more costs and make someone feel very helpful!
