Rubbing Alcohol is not just for medicinal purposes anymore. I have found through many years of trial and error that rubbing alcohol is great for removing just about any stain, scuff, mark, and it pretty much does the job usually instantly, but for certain stubborn stains I will let it sit overnight.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Elbow grease
  • A good scrub brush to work the alcohol into the stain.
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

Depending on what you are cleaning and what type of stain it is, such as pet stains on the carpet, you can pour the alcohol directly onto the stain and work it in with the scrub brush and you may want to repeat this step several times depending on the severity of the stain.
Once your stain is completely dissolved, use a dry paper towel folded several times to blot up the excess moisture and help speed up the drying process.

  2. Step 2

If you are trying to remove scuff marks from walls, furniture, shoes etc. just dampen a paper towel or sponge w/scouring pad and lightly scrub the scuff with the scouring side and the scuff will come off. If you have a child whose sneakers are frequently dirty - and I see this alot, this happens to be a pet peeve of mine, as I like my children to look nice wherever they go - however, I always see children with dirty shoes on - all it takes is a little damp cloth moistened with alcohol to clean the shoes up, it takes longer to brush your teeth than to wipe the shoes down before you go out the door.

  3. Step 3

I once spilled suntan lotion on the back of a seat in my SUV and I tried many things, finally once again I took the alcohol and poured a small amount on the stain, and worked it in with the scrub brush, it not only dries pretty fast because the alcohol evaporates but the stain was gone almost instantly.

  4. Step 4

Works well on hard to remove stains from clothing. Also for the ladies, if you wear acrylic nails and have ever been doing household chores and you get this scuff mark on your nail from rubbing against the wall maybe while making a bed etc. just dab a little alcohol with a Q-tip or cotton swab, scuff is removed instantly, same goes for scuff marks on high heels or any shoes if your feet scuff together, alcohol will remove the scuff marks. If you have ever purchased the "scuff remover" before, the next time you use it - smell the applicator, it smells just like alcohol although we pay much more for this product and alcohol (inexpensively) does the job.

Tips & Warnings
  • In addition to removing stains, alcohol is a great disinfectant as well.
  • Rubbing alcohol is not for human consumption - You just never know - there have been people to try to ingest this stuff. Keep out of the reach of children and those who are extremely addicted to alcohol of any kind.
