How to Make Natural Lemongrass Soap

  1. Step 1

Chop the clear glycerin soap base into medium-sized cubes.

  2. Step 2

Put the soap cubes into the bowl and heat in the microwave for 30 - 40 seconds. Remove the bowl and stir.

  3. Step 3

Continue to heat the soap base in the microwave, stopping to check and stir the mixture about every 10 seconds until the soap is completely melted.

  4. Step 4

Add a few drops of the lemongrass essential oil to the soap mixture and stir. Stir in the chopped lemongrass. Add the soap dye if you wish to add a light yellow tint to the soap. Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Pour the soap mixture into the molds. Be careful not to spill over the tops of the molds. If spills do occur, scrap up the excess soap once it hardens, return it to the bowl, and reheat to soften the soap and reuse.

  6. Step 6

Let the soap bars rest for a few minutes, allowing the air bubbles to rise to the top of the bars. Remove the air bubbles by spraying the soap bars with rubbing alcohol.

  7. Step 7

Cool the soap bars until they harden, about 30-40 minutes.

  8. Step 8

Remove the soap bars from the molds. The easiest way to do this is by simply turning the molds upside down and allowing the bars to slide out.

  9. Step 9

Use immediately or package the lemongrass soap by wrapping it in plastic wrap and store it for later use.
