Modern Technology is wonderful, but can be challenging to master. Call Forwarding allows you to receive calls that would normally go to your home, office, mobile phone number at any other number that you designate.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The phone you will be forwarding calls from
  • The manual or phone book for the phone provider of the phone you will be forwarding calls from
  • The phone number you will be forwarding calls to
  1. Step 1

In your manual or phone book locate the code you need to enter to activate Call Forwarding (typically in list of popular calling features). Note that not all phone service includes Call Forwarding as an option!

  2. Step 2

Pick up/turn on the phone you wish to forward calls from and enter the code (for example, for my phone service, *72)

  3. Step 3

After the line answers, enter the number you wish to forward your calls to and follow any further instructions you hear. If no further instructions apply, hang up after you have entered the number you wish to forward calls to.

  4. Step 4

To be sure your Call Forwarding feature has been activated, call the number you wish to forward calls from to be sure they are ringing at the forwarding number you have provided.

  5. Step 5

Be sure to note the code for deactivating Call Forwarding so that when you are ready to stop having your calls forwarded you can do so. Typically, this requires simply picking up/turning on the phone you were forwarding calls from and entering the deactivation code and hanging up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that you will need to enter the area code if you are forwarding calls out of your dialing area
  • Be sure you notify the person/business to whom your calls are being forwarded to expect your calls
  • Note that forwarding calls out of your own area code or mobile phone network may require you to pay long distance or out of network fees.
