How to Kill Houseflies without a Flyswatter

Sick of your home being invaded by those pesky houseflies? Do you find the thought of keeping a flyswatter hanging around absolutely repulsive? Here is a great trick for killing houseflies without a flyswatter - and without that gross mess!

Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle/plant mister
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Water
  • Paper towel, napkin or newspaper
  • Marker
  • Pour a bottle of rubbing alcohol into the spray bottle and mark bottle with the marker so it doesn't get confused.

  • The next time you see a fly, simply spray with a mist of the alcohol. It kills on contact.

  • Use your napkin, paper towel or newspaper to clean up the dead fly.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the fly is on the window spray a few times, when you go back with your paper towel or newspaper, clean the window while you're at it. Rubbing alcohol is a great streak free window cleaner!! Now that's killing two...flies with one spray!
  • Be aware that the alcohol may damage the surfaces of some types of furniture so you may want to wait until the fly has landed on the window or a safe piece of furniture.
