Make Peach Cobbler - A Peach Dessert

This peach dessert was one my Momma found in a Farm Journal Cookbook published in 1965. She has used it for many years and now I do too. It’s always been a big hit at family gatherings.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cobbler
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 4 cups sweetened sliced peaches
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • Cobbler Topping:
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg + ¼ cup milk
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Step 2

Mix the peach dessert ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook the peach mixture until it’s thick (about 15 minutes or so). Real butter tastes better than margarine.

  3. Step 3

While the peach mixture cooks, prepare the dessert topping. Simply mix the topping ingredients together in a bowl. Use a fork or pastry blender to mix in the butter (the real stuff). Set aside until the peach mixture is cooked.

Pour the cooked peaches into an 8-inch greased casserole dish. A round or square dish works fine.

Bake the peach dessert at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes, or until the top is a golden brown.

  7. Step 7

Serve this delicious peach dessert warm from the oven with ice cold milk, ice cream, or sweet whipped cream. A hot cup of coffee or bold cup of tea is a nice accompaniment.
