Things You'll Need:
- Your pet cat to sit still or stand still on the floor or on your lap.
- A pair of clean hands.
- A comfortable place to sit. It does not matter what surface but for the articles sake I will suggest a chair...
-
Step 1
Try to get your pet cat's attention. Sometimes if your cat will not come directly to you, you might try picking your pet cat up under its belly gently. Or, hold out your hand so that the cat is seeing the palm of your hand. They are more likely to come if you do this because some times they think you might be trying to hit them if you hold your hand another way.
-
Step 2
Next, sit down with the cat on your lap. If the cat is not willing to sit still then try to hold the cat still. Sometimes it is best to leave the cat alone if the cat seems angry or stressed.
-
Step 3
Then, once you and your furry little pal are comfortable, take your hand and gently rub the ears of the cat's head. Do not squeeze too hard because the cat may be sensitive in that area. Try rubbing the cat's belly, then the cat's side. If the cat is not a very temperamental cat (meaning it likes to attack you,} You can get away with rubbing the cat's paws very gently.
