If you're concerned about the number of calories the kids are eating these days you can easily hand out other things besides candy that they will like just as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ingenuity
  • glowsticks
  • children's books
  1. Step 1

If you have a bunch of kids books to give away, this is a good time to do it. You can even cater the book to the child, depending on their age or interests. Half Price Books or Goodwill is a good place to find books on the cheap.

  2. Step 2

Another choice is glowsticks. We bought about 500 on Amazon and handed them out in lieu of candy. It helped with safety since drivers could see all the kids, and they were excited to be getting something new and inventive.

  3. Step 3

Small toys ordered from the Oriental Trading Company could be another option- pencils, little bouncy balls, or anything small and inexpensive.

on 10/29/2008 I agree, I do the same thing. Much safer than giving candy, I give out popular stickers that kids like to put on notebooks, papers, walls, any sort of cool looking stickers are so inexpensive to buy and the kids think it's a REAL treat.
