everyone do the wave!!

Throwing a party is sometime everyone wants to do once in a while, but pulling off a great party is easier said than done. Here are some tips to pulling it off.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Friend invites
  • Girls and Boys
  • Alcohol
  • Making Arrangements before the day
  • Place to hold your party
  1. Step 1
    will the living room do?
    will the living room do?

Find a place to host your party.

The first and most important step: Where do you want to have your party? For big occasions, sometimes it may be better to rent out a club, hold the event at a park, or beach, etc.
For smaller occasions such as a get together to watch Sunday football, the living room will do.
Judge wisely, and if you pick a place, be sure it can accommodate all that come to your party.

  2. Step 2
    yea!
    yea!

Try to keep the ratio of girls to guys about the same.

Sausagefest? If you've ever heard that term, you definitely don't want to hear that at your event. It means that the amount of guys greatly outnumber the amount of girls. To make sure you have even numbers, let the guests know in advance to bring other friends of the opposite gender. Try your best, and NO EXCUSES.

Exception: The occasional football game can be all guys and still be alright...though it would be nice to have mixed company.

  3. Step 3
    beer pong
    beer pong

Alcohol is needed sometimes, especially recommended for a party with lots of new faces and little time for introductions. In moderation, it can go nicely, loosing up your company for a few evening.
If you are going to have a liquor party, tell your guests ahead of time to bring the booze (or food) depending on how you arrange it.

(Note: Arrange it well, so that everyone knows what they must do. Miscommunication about what to bring never ends well at the last minute)

  4. Step 4

Know what games you want to set up beforehand.

Twister? Beer pong? Strip poker? Try to figure it out ahead of time, or list it in the invite. Surprise is nice, but you might not be able to get everything and everyone into what you want to do.

Twister is a great game to loosen everyone up, especially when they're all so close. A definite must.
Beer pong is only recommended if you protect your furniture and your floor first. Not doing so may leave your living room stinking of liquor for days.
Strip games? Only for the brave. Set the rules from the beginning. In addition, play the game in another room so that others won't feel left out because they didn't want to play.

  5. Step 5
keep it down after late hours
keep it down after late hours

After late hours, try to keep the noise down.

Living in the city near neighbors can have it's downsides. Keep it down and be considerate to them, or you may have the police knocking on your door. Sometimes, if situation allows it, you could invite your neighbors also. But use your discretion. After all they do live near you.

  6. Step 6

Try to make after party accommodations in the middle of the party.

Keep that car service number handy, as well as trying to find out how everyone is getting home. After all, as host you are responsible for their well-being. The best thing is to have everyone stay over, because that guarantees everyone will get home safely the next day. Don't let anyone drive home drunk!! You're liable!

Tip: Make it an overnighter party in advance so most will stay over. It's fun too because you never have to worry about getting home in time.

Tips & Warnings
  • This tutorial is for 21+ parties.
  • Have friends bring new people. You don't want to know EVERYONE at the beginning of the party.
  • Don't serve red bull or other carbonated energy drinks with liquor
  • Make sure everyone eats before drinking. Anyone on medication, or must take medication...sorry no liquor for you.
  • If anything happens to any of your guests, it's your fault. So, have fun, but be careful.
