Subway calories are much lower than eating at Mac Donald's, Hardees, or Burger King. While sandwiches tend to be healthier than greasy hamburgers, there are still common pitfalls. If you are watching your weight, Subway is a great fast food restaurant. Use this article, however, to minimize those subway calories even further.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stick to a sub with 300 Subway calories or less. There are 5 of the, actually. All of them are 6 inchers: Veggie Delight, turkey breast, turkey breast and ham, roast beef, black forest ham. Many times a 6 inch sub is all you need to satisfy your hunger.

  2. Step 2

Stick with plain wheat bread. Although it has 200 Subway calories in a 6 inch sub, it contains 4 grams of fiber. Overall, it beats all other bread flavors.

  3. Step 3

Top your sub with "The works". This gives your mouth a mirage of flavors, with low subway calories. In fact, by adding "The works", you get quite a bit of vegetables. This can help to fill your tummy and prevent overeating.

  4. Step 4

Ask for vinegar or yellow mustard as a sauce. Both contain zero Subway calories and still have a strong taste.

  5. Step 5

Skip the cheese. With all the toppings and your sauce, cheese can be difficult to taste anyway. Don't waste the Subway calories. Cheese accounts for around 50 on a 6 inch sub.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't waste all of your saved Subway calories on chips. Get apples, raisons, or skip the side all together.
