Giving your pet an injection is quick and easy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Proper injection
  • A friend to help hold your pet if he or she is wiggly
  1. Step 1

Mix your injection by opening the vial with the liquid. Displace the air by pulling up on the syringe and injection the liquid vial with air. Tilt the vial upside down and allow the liquid to flow into the syringe.

  2. Step 2

Add the liquid to the powdered vial. Gently shake to mix. Again displace the air and allow the liquid to fill the syringe. Gently tap out the air from the syringe and bring the fluid level to the tip of the needle.

  3. Step 3

If your pet is extra wiggly have a friend or family member gently but firmly hold your pet still. Reassuring the pet while they do so.

  4. Step 4

Grab your dog by the scruff of the neck and gently but firmly inject the medication into the scruff of your pets neck making sure that the needle does not pass out of the opposite side of the scruff that you are holding.

  5. Step 5

Gently and firmly press the plunger down on the syringe until all of the liquid has been injected into your pet.

  6. Step 6

Give your pet a quick rub and tell him or her what a great dog they are.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most dogs do not even notice when they receive an injection.
  • If the dog does notice, gentle reassurance is usually all that is required.
  • Be careful not to allow the syringe to go through the opposite side of the scruff of the neck.
