Things You'll Need:
- Registering to vote will be easy if you bring along proof of identity, age, citizenship, and place of domicile - such as:
- Drivers license
- U.S. or state issued photo ID
-
Step 1
First you will need to find out when and where you can register to vote. Voters in New Hampshire can either register at the polls on Election Day, or up to 10 days before the election at their local town or city clerk's office. You can avoid a long wait in line on Election Day by registering to vote early.
Call your local clerk's office to find when they are open. Your clerk's office can also provide you with information about polling locations and voting absentee. Contact info is available online at: http://www.sos.nh.gov/clerks.htm -
Step 2
Prepare the documents you'll need to prove your identity, citizenship, age, and place of domicile. If you have an in state drivers license with your current address on it, you are good to go.
If you don't have a New Hampshire drivers license, call your local clerk's office to see what documentation you'll need to register. A drivers license bearing an old address combined with a bill bearing your name and current address will generally suffice. Other documents that can come in handy include a U.S. or state issued photo ID, a U.S. passport, or a birth certificate.
If you can't provide sufficient documentation, you can still register to vote by signing affidavits verifying your eligibility. These will be provided to you upon request when you go to register to vote. -
Step 3
Bring the documents you've gathered to your local town or city clerks office or go to the polls on Election Day and register to vote!
