How to create a single crochet.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

    Crochet Abbreviations are an important part of crochet when reading a crochet pattern.
    Single Crochet = SC
    Chain = CH/CH's

  2. Step 2

    Make a chain of 15.

  3. Step 3

    You will be making 14 single crochet on your chain foundation. The first chain will be used as a step to make your single crochet on the first row. Each crochet stitch has a different amount of chains that are required to get up to the first row.

  4. Step 4

    Insert your hook through the second chain from the hook.

  5. Step 5

    Wrap the yarn over your hook.

  6. Step 6

    Pull the yarn through the chain.

  7. Step 7

    You have two loops on your hook.

  8. Step 8

    Wrap the yarn over your hook.

  9. Step 9

    Pull through both loops on your hook.

  10. Step 10

    You have completed your first single crochet.

  11. Step 11

    For the next single crochet and remaining stitches on the foundation, insert your hook in the next foundation chain.

  12. Step 12

    Repeat steps 4-10 until you have 14 single crochet complete.

  13. Step 13

    For the next row, you will chain 1, then turn.

  14. Step 14

    There are two loops at the top of the single crochet that you made in the previous row. You can go through the front loop, back loop or both. These instructions will be telling how to go through both loops.

  15. Step 15

    You will insert your hook below the two strands of yarn at the top of the stitch.

  16. Step 16

    Wrap the yarn over your hook.

  17. Step 17

    Pull the yarn through.

  18. Step 18

    You will have two loops on your hook.

  19. Step 19

    Wrap the yarn over your hook.

  20. Step 20

    Pull through both loops on your hook.

  21. Step 21

    Chain 1 and turn for each new row you will be completing.

  22. Step 22

    Repeat steps 15-21 for the remaining stitches in the row.

  23. Step 23

    Once your length is complete, cut your yarn and pull the tail through the loop to secure the stitch.
