How to Plan a Singles' Ski Trip

You love to ski or snowboard and you’re single. In planning a ski trip you have two requirements: a great mountain and a vibrant scene with a good mix of men and women. Ski trips can be an excellent place for singles to meet that special someone (or fling.) From the start, chances are you already have something in common and it’s easy to get some conversation going from there. Choose wisely and you will have plenty of options. Choose poorly, and you’ll be stuck in a room watching TV with your buddies.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what region/mountains you would like to go to: the Rockies, Canada, the Alps, Vermont, etc. Figure out what works for your budget and time and start from there.

    • 2

Consider the Alps. If you have the money and time to take a trip overseas, the Alps offer some of the original, lavish ski destinations offering not only have some of the most extensive, challenging skiing in the world, but also some serious nightlife. They know how to party there, as clubs are often open until the wee hours of the morning. Throw in a mix of tourists and exotic European men and women, and you have some excellent options.

    • 3

Check online. If you’re unsure about where to find that perfect balance of snow, nightlife, and men/ladies, read some resort reviews on websites like OnTheSnow.com and SkiTown.com. These sites include ratings for nightlife and reviewers will often discuss the vibe and bar or club options. Some publications and sites even have a list of resorts with the best nightlife.

    • 4

Pick a resort. If you're staying in North America, you'll still have many excellent options. Some resorts that are notorious for thriving nightlife include Park City, Lake Tahoe (Heavenly, Squaw, etc.,) Jackson Hole, Killington, and Whistler. In addition to having some of the best riding in their respective locations, these resorts also have plenty of bars, clubs, and live music.

    • 5

Get some buddies. You don't generally take a ski trip alone, so have some other single buddies with you to ensure a fun time on and off the mountain.

    • 6

Make your reservations for hotel, lift tickets, rentals, plane, car, etc.

    • 7

Be sure to pack plenty of clothes. Given the split-motivations of your trip, you'll want to have both clothing for skiing/snowboarding and nicer clothes for going out. Don't forget other necessities like ID, gear, hygiene, condoms, and cash/credit cards.
