Instructions

    • 1

Pour the beans into small ziplock bags. Seal the bags to keep the beans dry in case the bean bag comes into contact with water.

    • 2

Slip a bag of beans into a sock.

    • 3

Tie the open end of the sock into a tight knot, snug with the bag. Cut off the excess, or fold the excess over the knot.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 until you have as many bean bags as you need.

    • 5

Set out containers of different sizes around the room. Use pots, pans, jars, laundry basket, boxes, a mini basketball hoop, plates or other round containers. Have your child practice throwing from farther and farther away. Challenge them to try throwing with their eyes closed, or from strange positions like lying on their backs on the floor, tossing over their shoulder with their back to the hoop, or from the top of the stairs. Give points, prizes or treats for the most baskets and the most creative throws.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to quit the game when the kids start throwing the bean bags at each other (unless they're playing catch).
