No one likes brown lettuce, but for some reason, it always seems to turn brown before you can properly enjoy it. Fortunately, it's not that hard to keep your lettuce green, crispy and delicious.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lettuce
  • Paper towels
  • Plastic food storage bag (Ziploc or similar)
  1. Step 1

Thoroughly clean and wash the lettuce.

  2. Step 2

Separate leaves and cut the lettuce with a sharp knife.

  3. Step 3

Remove and discard any "bad" leaves – those that are dull, brown and soft.

  4. Step 4

Carefully dry remaining lettuce with paper towels. Make sure to wipe up all excess water.

  5. Step 5

Once lettuce is dry, wrap the leaves in paper towels.

  6. Step 6

Place the wrapped lettuce into a plastic bag. Seal it tightly and refrigerate.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're out of plastic bags, a plastic container will also work.
  • If your refrigerator has separate drawers or compartments for vegetables, make sure you are using the appropriate one, as each drawer has different humidity settings for meat, cheese, vegetables and fruit.
